I’m Lucy — mum, step-mum, wife, daughter, sister, friend… and someone who has fully accepted that life isn’t about spinning plates perfectly. It’s about dropping them, catching a few, stepping over the rest, and finding the joy, humour and heart in the chaos anyway.
Dropping the Plates was born in the thick of real life — the busy seasons, the overwhelming moments, the tiny joys, and the deep love that makes it all worthwhile. This isn’t a polished diary of my family, but a collection of honest stories, reflections, tips, recommendations and gentle reminders that none of us have it all together. And we don’t need to.
Why This Blog and Why Now
I’ve reached a point in life where the days feel both full and fleeting — where the moments that matter most can slip by in the rush of nappies, nursery runs, work emails, family life, and trying to remember where I last put my cup of tea.
And somewhere in the middle of all that, I realised something simple but important:
I want to remember these moments.
I want to connect with people who feel the same.
And I want a space where we can all exhale and say, “Yeah… me too.”

Born November 1987 in Blackpool — a true sandgrown’un and the youngest of three. I’ve always worn my heart on my sleeve, and I’m proud of that emotion. It’s shaped who I am and the roles I cherish most: mum, wife, daughter, sister and friend.
Little P
Born April 2023, two weeks early and she’s kept me on my toes ever since. She made me a mum and taught me a love I never knew. Kind, funny, empathetic and beautifully sassy, she’s shown me that motherhood is the hardest, happiest, best job in the world.

Arriving March 2026 — the sweetest surprise. Already so loved and joining a family who loves with their whole hearts. You’ll have the best big sister, a home ready for all the joy you’re bringing with you, and we cannot wait to meet you.

Here we are — Dropping the Plates is officially live. A new beginning built on honesty, heart and all the messy, magical parts of mum life. I’m excited, nervous, and so happy to finally be here alongside you. Let’s spin (and drop) the plates together — a team, a community, a safe place to land.
